Located in the pristine region of Bahia Ballena-Uvita, Costa Rica, Bodhi Surf + Yoga is a boutique surf resort that integrates several relatively unique concepts into its operation. As the name indicates, Yoga is a major part of their program and overall philosophy. Another major component is promoting social and environmental responsibility through their programs. This is all evident in their mission statement, which reads as “Educating, inspiring, and empowering our stakeholders to live more sustainably through surfing, yoga, nature immersion, and community engagement.”

Bahia Ballena-Uvita is located on the southern Pacific coast, central to some of Costa Rica’s best surf spots. Bodhi Surf + Yoga is a smaller resort that limits its groups to no more than 10 guests at a time. Accommodation options are rooms or bungalows that sleep between two to four people. They offer four types of packages, which include the Adult Surf and Yoga Camp, the Family Surf Camp, the Body Surf Camp, and Yoga Retreats.

The surf lessons at Bodhi Surf + Yoga take place at Playa Colonia, which is located in the beautiful Marino Ballena National Park. It’s a gentle surf spot great for novice, beginner, and intermediate surfers to learn and improve their surfing skills. Surfboards, leashes, wax, and rashguards are all included. For the intermediate and advanced surfers, other top surf spots in the area include Playa Dominical, Playa Matapalo, and Playa Hermosa.

Bodhi Surf + Yoga believes that surfing and yoga go hand in hand. To that end, they integrate yoga into most of their packages. It also offers a package specifically dedicate to yoga.

Package at Bodhi Surf + Yoga includes most meals. The menu consists of healthy meals with ingredients that are locally sourced or provided by nearby restaurants. They cater to all types of dietary preferences. Snacks are also offered at each surf lesson.

One of the packages they offer that are relatively unique is the Family Surf Package. The package is designed to provide an unforgettable experience for families where they not only learn how to surf together but also enjoy a number of memorable activities and experiences. Some of the non-surfing activities include hiking to waterfalls through lush jungles, visiting the local national parks, touring local farms, whale and dolphin tours, volcano tours, and family horseback rides.

The resort also offers a number of other activities, including board games, tours of the community, hammocks for lounging, and pools for refreshing dips. Night hikes and wildlife tours are also available.

May through November in Costa Rica is generally known as the green season when the weather is cooler and rain showers occur on a regular basis. mid-September into November has the chance of being very rainy. December through April are drier and are also typically much warmer, sometimes becoming very hot.

Flights are made into the Juan SantamarĂ­a International Airport in San Jose, Costa Rica. Bodhi Surf + Yoga includes round trip transportation to and from the airport in all of their packages. Their packages also include a one-night stay in a san Jose hotel.
