African Perfection Guesthouses on Supertubes puts you right on top of some of the best waves on the entire planet. The famed Jeffreys Bay in South Africa is one of the most revered and idyllic surf destinations in the world. The region was officially put on the surfing map when Robert August and Mike Hynson voyaged there in the 1966 classic Endless Summer and has been a mecca for surfers ever since.
African Perfection is a collection of small houses and bed & breakfasts that sit oceanfront on the dreamy wave called Supertubes. They are all on the higher end, more luxurious end of surf destinations with each having its own unique offerings. African Perfection 1 is directly on Supertubes and is a classically styled bed and breakfast that offers eight en-suite rooms. African Perfection 2 is a beach house that’s also right on Supertubes. Breakfast is served daily here and there are also self-catering facilities. Yoga and group retreats are ideal at this location. Aloe Again sits just back from the ocean and is more of a budget accommodation. It offers eight basic twin, double, and family en-suite rooms as well as a community kitchen, pool table, fire pit, and outdoor shower. 3 Pepper is a 3 bedroom house ideal for groups of friends, couples or families. And, 10I Mimosa is a self-catering 3 bedroom home that sleeps up to six people. This also sits just a stones throw from the ocean.
As far as surfing goes, the area is about as good as it gets. Being in the southern hemisphere, it works best during the months of April through October. This is also when offshore winds are prevalent. Supertubes at Jeffreys Bay is the show stopper wave there, but there are plenty of other waves to be had for all levels and abilities of surfers. Waves can also be had in the offseason as well.
Lessons and tours can be booked through JBay Surf Village and Salted Surf School. JBay Surf Village also offers a variety of shops and cafes, a co-working space, a skate park, a kids play area, art classes, a spa, a coffee shop, and more. Being in South Africa, you’re also not far from locations that offer safaris and wildlife tours. Fishing tours both onshore and in the open ocean are available. There’s also a reputable golf course in the area if that suits your interests.
Jeffreys Bay and the surrounding areas offer all of the modern luxuries one might expect. Wi-fi, dining, ATMs and banks, taxis, and Uber are all available. Surfboards and other gear can be rented or purchased through a variety of shops in the area. While surfing is the main attraction, there’s no shortage of things to do and see in the area.
