Niyama Private Islands Maldives consists of two separate islands, which they’ve given the names of “Play” and “Chill”. The featured wave at this surf resort is Vodi, which is a left=hand reef break just off of Niyama’s Play Island. Anytime it’s above head high with favorable winds it becomes a hollow, barreling wave suitable for intermediate surfers and above. Below head high, it becomes a fun wave that can be enjoyed by most levels of surfers and longboarders. Being within walking distance of the resort means you can get on it quickly whenever you want to. The other most commonly surfed wave at Niyama is Kasabu. This is a right-hander that’s a 10-minute boat ride across the channel. It can also be considered a world-class wave with both rippable walls and barrel sections. Beyond those two waves, there are numerous other top-notch Maldives surf spots that the knowledgable guides from Niyama can take you to.

Surf lessons are available for novices and intermediates. There are placid lagoons and gentle waves in the area that Niyama’s instructors used as locations for teaching. Coaching is also available for intermediate and advanced surfers looking to improve their skills.

Dining options are numerous with a handful of unique and interesting concepts. Among them is Subsix, which is an underwater restaurant that you get to by way of a speedboat. The ocean-themed restaurant has everything from champagne breakfasts to gourmet dinners, all while viewing the beautiful ocean life that surrounds you. Beyond that, you have everything from beachfront dining, poolside dining, and room service catering.

Niyama caters to families and children in the way of their Explorers Kids Club. This luxury experience for kids includes dolphin viewing nature hikes into the tropical forest.

Niyama touts their spa as one of the best of all Maldives resorts. Champagne and chocolates complement the spa experiences that include 6 over-water treatment rooms with views of the lagoon. Aldo on offer are treatment sanctuaries with private gardens and an outdoor bath. Yoga is also available. All of this can be done as families, couples, or individuals.

Snorkeling is one of the top non-surfing options. Marine biologists are available for a guided snorkeling trip. The resort also features a tennis court, pool tables air hockey, ping pong, boat tours, and jet ski rentals.

Being an island, Niyama can pick up waves year-round. The biggest swells come in April through October with the better winds taking place from October to May.

Flights can be made to the Male International Airport. From there it’s a 40-minute flight by seaplane to take you to your arrival at Niyama Private Islands Maldives.
