When it comes to surfing, Tofino in Vancouver, British Columbia is the crown jewel of Canada. Pacific Sands Beach Resort is one of the longest-standing resorts there and centrally located to a number of world-renowned waves.
Pacific Sands touts 35 kms of beaches and coastline that pick up swell year-round. Being Canada, you’ll need to be aware of and prepared for the different water temps and weather. Cox Bay and Chesterman Beach are the two primary breaks in the area and have been included in CNN’s list of Top 50 surf destinations in the world. The landscape and scenery of Tofino are spectacular, so plenty to look at in between sets.
Accommodations are considered luxury and include everything from studios to 1 br, 2 br, and 3 br beach houses. Most are either oceanfront or feature ocean views of Cox Bay. All feature fully-equipped kitchens with dining areas, living rooms with gas fireplaces, outdoor patios or decks, and entertainment centres.
Surfboard rentals and surf lessons are available at their Surf Shack. The Surfside Grill is oceanfront and offers meals such as locally sourced fish tacos, fish & chips, and burgers. They also offer Yoga, rentals of beach toys and games, bike rentals, laundry service, and on-site groceries.
The trip can be done either as a fun family trip, hardcore surf trip, or a combination of both. Pacific Sands Beach Resort offers a number of activities outside of surfing, including whale watching, animal tracking, and rainforest exploration.
