Turtle Bay Resort

On the northernmost tip of the island of O’ahu in Hawai’i sits Turtle Bay Resort. Though the North Shore of O’ahu is known far and wide among surfers as one the best stretches of waves on earth, many are surprised to know there are only a couple of hotels on the stretch of coastline dubbed the seven-mile miracle.

Turtle Bay consists of 1,400 acres of oceanfront land and sits on the exact point where the north shore and east shore of O’ahu come together. While it’s the winter months that bring the consistent, sizeable swells the area is famous for, its location actually allows it to catch swell year-round. Within just a few miles of the resort are legendary surf spots such as Pipeline, Sunset, Hale’iwa, Off The Wall, Rockies, and the list goes on. However, the coastline right in front of Turtle Bay has several different breaks to choose from for all levels of skill and ability. And, you can see them from the balcony of any ocean view room.

The resort features a wide variety of rooms to choose from, including 3 bedroomr and 4 bedroom oceanfront villas. There is no shortage of food options with seven different restaurants, cafes, and lounges to eat and drink at. Hawaiian cuisine featuring local seafood and tropical fruits are widely available, but you can also find a variety of international options.

The surf school is located in the lobby of the hotel and provides options for all skill levels. The waves just out front of the hotel are ideal for beginner surfers, though if the swell is too big they use passenger vans to search the area for more gentle surf. Surfboards are available to buy or rent, as are paddleboards and other ocean toys.

Activities other than surfing include horseback riding, snorkeling tours, fishing tours, and an ocean-front golf course on the premises. The resort also features a spa and offers massage services, all of which are oceanfront. Turtle Bay Resort is located on a fairly remote section of the island, so the hotel has several little shops inside where you can find all of the odds and ends one might need during a surf vacation.
