If you love long barreling right point breaks and warm water, you will love El Salvador. One of the best ways to enjoy this beautiful country is at K59 Surf Resort, owned and operated by Edgard Ziegele (Known as “Edgard or Chele Schleusz”).
This resort is not overly fancy but it’s got A/C, WiFi, a pool, and an excellent kitchen. Not to mention the frothy right-hander peeling off all day out front. There are a variety of both private and shared rooms to choose from.
Although the surf season in EL Salvador is almost year-round, the best months are from March to October. September is rainy and sometimes conditions are not favorable but there are some bigger waves. November and December the wave average is 3′ to 5′ with a couple of 6′ to 8′ swells, January and February the waves are smaller but clean, very good for learning SUP or just enjoying the beautiful beach. If there’s a 3 feet swell or more the surf will be great.
Non-surfing activities include canopy tours, motorcycle tours, and guided excursions to the popular sites around El Salvador. Some of these historic sites include the Tazumal Ruins, the pyramids of Campana San Andres, the ancient city of Cihuatan, and the Quelepa Ruins.
The national currency of El Salvador is the US Dollar, so for American travelers, no conversion is necessary.
Fly into the Comalapa International Airport, which is 45 minutes away from the resort. The nearest town to explore and grab a meal is El Puerto de La Libertad, which is 25 minutes away.
