When you think of surfing in El Salvador, the idea of hitting the”East Coast” isn’t typically the first thought that comes to mind. However, the East Coast, otherwise known as the Oriente, actually holds some of El Salvador’s most classic and sought-after right-hand point breaks. The eco-boutique Hotel Los Mangos is located in this region of the Pacific coastline, allowing guests great access points to the area’s world-class waves.

Hotel Los Mangos sits on a cliff overlooking the famed El Salvador surf spot Punta Mango. The views are absolutely amazing and you can always see what’s happening with the waves. The hotel offers six suites, four of which are ocean views and the other having garden views. Each suite comes with two full beds and a futon. Amenities include daily housekeeping, air conditioning, wi-fi, LED satellite TV, and a private balcony.

Punta Mango is the main attraction here when it comes to this surf resort. The long, right-hand point break is just steps away from the resort and you can surf it until your arms fall off. There are a number of other world-class El Salvador waves in the area including Las Flores, La Ventana, La Vaca, El Toro, El Bongo, and many more.

Epic Surfing Adventures, which has over a decade of guiding and surf lesson experience in the region, handles the surf programs for Hotel Los Mangos. There are a variety of packages available to choose from, ranging from guided trips for advanced surfers and surf lesson packages for novice and beginner surfers. Board rental is also available. There are a number of sand-bottom, more gentle breaks in which novice and beginner surfers can receive lessons. The surf guides can also be very helpful when it comes to putting advanced surfers on the right waves at the right time.

The surf packages can be all-inclusive, which feature meals served from their on-site restaurant. The menu has a mixture of comfort foods and local dishes. Many of the options feature locally sourced seafood, fruits, and vegetables. Beer and wine are also on offer.

When not surfing, Hotel Los Mangos has an infinity pool that overlooks Punta Mango. The resort is also kid-friendly. Hammocks are available on site for relaxation. Massages are available on demand. The front desk can also help arrange non-surfing tours to the jungles and volcanoes as well as cultural experiences. Yoga is also available through the resort.

Flights are made into El Salvador International Airport, which is about two and a half hours away. Airport transfers are included in a number of the packages offered by Hotel Los Mangos.
